Rebuilding What Was Lost
Breast reconstruction is a deeply personal procedure that helps women restore their body image and sense of wholeness following mastectomy, lumpectomy, or traumatic injury. Dr. Win Pound approaches every reconstruction with the same artistic precision and compassionate care he brings to all of his work.
Reconstruction may be performed immediately at the time of mastectomy (immediate reconstruction) or as a separate procedure weeks, months, or even years later (delayed reconstruction). Both approaches can achieve excellent, natural-looking results. Dr. Pound also performs fat transfer to the breast for volume contouring, refinement of reconstructed contours, and correction of asymmetries.
Options include implant-based reconstruction using tissue expanders followed by permanent implants, or autologous (flap) reconstruction using the patient's own tissue. Surgeries are performed at Northside Hospital Atlanta, Northside Cherokee Hospital Canton, and Union General Hospital Blairsville. Dr. Pound will discuss all options during your consultation and help you choose the approach that best fits your anatomy, health history, and goals.

Who Is a Candidate?
Women who have undergone or are planning a mastectomy or lumpectomy, or who have experienced breast loss due to trauma or disease, may be candidates for breast reconstruction. The best time to begin planning is before your mastectomy, so that immediate reconstruction can be considered. Dr. Pound works closely with your oncology team to coordinate your care.
