Overview

Removing or Replacing Implants Safely and Completely

Whether you are experiencing complications, have concerns about implant illness, or simply wish to change your implants or return to your natural figure, breast implant removal and replacement is a safe and straightforward procedure in experienced hands. Dr. Win Pound performs implant removal with meticulous attention to the surrounding capsule tissue and the overall aesthetic outcome.

Depending on your situation, Dr. Pound may recommend a full capsulectomy (complete removal of the surrounding scar capsule), a partial capsulectomy, capsulotomy (an in-office procedure to release a tight capsule), or capsulorrhaphy. He also treats implant ruptures — both saline and silicone. For patients who wish to maintain or restore breast volume, new implants can be placed at the same time — including via the TUBA (transumbilical breast augmentation) technique for saline implants, which allows placement through a small incision at the navel with no scar on the breast itself. Dr. Pound is in network with Medicare and most major insurance plans — consult with his office to determine whether your policy covers implant rupture repair or capsulectomy.

For patients who wish to return to a natural appearance after removal, a concurrent breast lift can be performed to address any sagging and restore a youthful contour. Every plan is individualized — Dr. Pound will review your implant history, imaging, and goals to recommend the most appropriate approach for your health and aesthetic outcome.
