Refresh Your Eyes, Refresh Your Look
Blepharoplasty — eyelid surgery — corrects drooping upper eyelids, puffy lower lids, and under-eye bags that can make you look tired, aged, or even impair your vision. Dr. Pound performs both upper and lower blepharoplasty, removing or repositioning excess skin, muscle, and fat to create a rested, alert appearance. The results are subtle yet transformative — one of the highest-satisfaction procedures in cosmetic surgery. Importantly, upper eyelid surgery is often covered by Medicare and most major insurance plans when drooping lids cause functional issues and visual field testing confirms impairment — Dr. Pound's team can assist with the necessary documentation.
Benefits
The Procedure
Upper vs. Lower Blepharoplasty
Upper blepharoplasty removes excess skin and sometimes fat from the upper lids, restoring a more open, youthful eye. Lower blepharoplasty addresses bags and puffiness beneath the eyes, either through an external incision just below the lash line or a transconjunctival (inside the eyelid) approach that leaves no visible scar. Both procedures are often performed together and can be combined with a facelift or brow lift for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Most upper eyelid procedures are performed comfortably under local anesthesia in an office setting, though some procedures — including reconstructive work and functional repairs — require outpatient surgery under general anesthesia. Beyond cosmetic blepharoplasty, Dr. Pound also performs skin cancer removal and reconstruction of the upper and lower eyelids, including skin flap reconstruction. He treats functional eyelid conditions such as ectropion (outward-turning lid) and entropion (inward-turning lid), restoring both comfort and proper eyelid function.
Candidacy
Are You a Candidate?
Good candidates are adults bothered by drooping upper lids, under-eye bags, or a tired appearance that does not reflect how they feel. Upper blepharoplasty may also be covered by insurance when drooping lids impair vision — Dr. Pound's team can assist with documentation. A consultation will determine which procedure or combination is right for you.
